Here we are talking a pair of mint Underwood Champion
De Luxe portables.
The Champion was the high end model of the Underwood
line with a better finish, nickeled parts, a nicer carrying case
along with a few extra features such as a tabulator.
1940 model Underwood Champion
You will see the high gloss 1940 model from time
to time, but seldom in mint condition. However the real find
here is the 1936 model, which very few of were manufactured,
as the Champion was originally only some $20.00 more than the
Universal model . This was still a good bit of change to the
average working guy or gal back in the 30's.
