Olympia SM-9 - "Evolution of a classic"

In my all time favorite typer list, second place goes to the Olympia SM-9 when space and weight are factored in.

Of course, I'm referring to the SM-9 with the standard 12 inch carriage.

Here I will show you how the SM-9 twelve inch has evolved over the past twenty some odd years.

The first model shown here has the white keys, white top and silver gray sides with chrome end plates and the hard luggage case with the lock down.

The second model is basically the same but has a lower profile and has lite gray key tops.

The third model shown here has darker gray key tops and dark gray sides and some of the chrome has dissappeared, but basically this is still the same machine.

The fourth model in the evolution of the Olympia SM-9 is starting to show the cost cutting measures that were implement by Olympia over the years, as most of the chrome is now gone along with the nicer hard case. You can also see that the tab set and clear buttons have been changed and are no longer set to the right and left of the space bar. This model is still however a very well made machine and all around great typer.

There is still a fifth model that I do not sell as it was cut back in quality so far that it make me sad. However all good things must come to an end and in the case of the SM-9 there are still many to be had on the market if you know what you are buying.
